Outdoor wedding days require a little faith, a little flexibility, and sometimes a whole lot of umbrellas. Kayla and Danny’s timeless Emerald Greens golf course wedding in Hastings, Minnesota started out with a less-than-ideal forecast calling for thunderstorms. When you’re planning an outdoor wedding ceremony in front of a gorgeous waterfall, this was pretty much the worst-case scenario they could imagine. While the weather looked spotty, they decided to proceed with their outdoor ceremony as planned, holding onto high hopes that the rain would stay away.

As the photographer, I arrived with my mountain of clear umbrellas for the wedding party to borrow as an extra precaution. After some light rain in the morning, the weather cleared up beautifully, and we were met with sunny, blue, partly cloudy skies for the entirety of the ceremony and formal portraits. It was nothing short of a miracle and honestly felt like something straight out of a painting. All three times I have photographed weddings at Emerald Greens Golf Course’s premier wedding venue, The Wexford, have been nothing short of bright, beautiful, sunny days.

Kayla’s vision for the wedding day was soft, romantic, and timeless, featuring lemon twist bridesmaid dresses from Birdy Grey and an elegant blend of white, pale yellow, and pale pink florals from Long Way Floral. When I say her vision was truly brought to life with the help of her florist and day-of coordinator, Better Than Bliss, I am not exaggerating. The decorations and attention to detail were immaculate. Kayla and Danny even had their adorable pup, Murphy, serve as the greeter for their wedding ceremony and as their ring bearer, with the help of Becca’s MN Petcare. Murphy absolutely stole the show and was easily one of the highlights of the day.

My favorite part of Kayla and Danny’s love story is how deeply they care for and support one another. These two are high school sweethearts who have been together for over ten years and have overcome every obstacle life has thrown their way—together. They both love to golf, so choosing Emerald Greens Golf Course as their wedding venue was a no-brainer. They even incorporated the cutest golf ball party favors, personalized with their names and wedding date. I was obsessed with this choice because it was both practical and deeply personal to who they are as a couple. Kind-hearted, genuine, and full of joy, Kayla and Danny know how to live life to the fullest. Their wedding day was a perfect reflection of their love, and I feel incredibly blessed to have been a part of it.
