Fairytale Pennsylvania Catholic Wedding | Romantic Wedding Portraits at Grey Towers Castle
Samantha and Brody’s fairytale Pennsylvania Catholic wedding at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in the outskirts of Philadelphia, was straight out of a storybook. The day started with Samantha getting ready in her childhood home across the border in New Jersey. Samantha chose to get ready in her bedroom because she felt it was important to see where her story began reflected in her wedding portraits. Samantha took the traditional route and elected to wear her mother’s wedding dress on her big day, which was the perfect choice for her because she looked like an absolute queen, and it fit in with her wedding day vision of a vintage, storybook, Renaissance-era romance.
Samantha and Brody’s Catholic faith is of the utmost importance to them, which is why they decided to fly me out to Pennsylvania to help capture all of their important Catholic wedding details. They had a traditional Latin Mass wedding ceremony at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Norristown, PA, and it was absolutely beautiful. I have always loved gorgeous, old, small churches because they make the day feel incredibly intimate and personal.
Once we had finished taking gorgeous photos, we headed over to the Whitemarsh Valley Event Center in Fort Washington, PA, for the reception. Everything about the reception was so fun and wholesome. The speeches made me tear up, Samantha gave a special moment to her matron of honor in an act of complete selflessness by letting her share a special dance with her husband, and the bride and groom cut their wedding cake with a literal sword while her brother played the song “Formidable” by Twenty One Pilots on the guitar.
Samantha is incredibly crafty and took the time to curate the most personal details I have ever seen for a wedding. She made a cake topper to represent two Catholic saints, Timothy and Maura, who were both martyrs. She also made a stained glass backdrop from scratch. Brody and Samantha painted edelweiss on their cake plates, which they considered their wedding flower, and they made each other rosaries to carry throughout the wedding day. They also included sentimental details like Samantha wearing her mom’s dress and using the champagne glasses that Brody’s parents used at their wedding.
All in all, this Pennsylvania Catholic wedding was truly a fairytale fit for a queen and king, and I wish I could relive it over and over again.
